Magic Carpet

So often we play it safe with our color choices in area rugs.  Whether you are unsure of how to make a statement with color or you’re stuck in a rut with outdated decorating.   An area rug is an easy way to experiment with color and design for any room.  By changing a rug in a room the entire room can take on a new updated feel.  Remember that a rug is the largest splash of color in any room.  Visualize how you want the room to look when finished.  Are you a minimalist or do you prefer intense color with a bold pattern.   Patterns can be mixed if they are coordinated by color.  Items to also consider when purchasing a rug would be your window treatments, furniture and accessories in the room being updated.

Donna Karan's new fragrance Woman is more than just a scent.  The bottle was designed by famed architect Zaha Hadid.  Ms. Hadid said that she designed the bottle to be “a sculptural silhouette that represents the sensuality of a woman and celebrates the fluidity of the female form.”

“The idea behind the scent was to express the many sides of a woman – strong, soft, creative, and passionate,” says Ms. Karan.  The scent is a mixture of spicy sandalwood, Haitian vetiver, and orange flower.

Carolina Herrera Spring 2013

In Carolina Herrera’s Spring 2013 collection was feminine, light, lovely, breezy and polished.  Her slim silhouettes were cut from chiffon, organza, tulle and georgette.  The lineup featured an abstract print in pastels with flashes of orange and black.  Carolina never fails to deliver a beautiful collection that makes me excited to be a woman.

Glenda our Fashion Godmother

September 12th, 2012

Glenda Bailey is a bit of a renegade in a fashion world where everything is perceived as perfection.  She marches to the beat of her own drummer never giving into the pressure to conform from the fashionistas around her.  Glenda's taste in clothes may have become more refined, but her enthusiasm for fashion is still that of a giddy school girl waiting for the latest fashion magazines to hit the stand.

Since being made editor-in-chief of Harper's Bazaar in 2001, Glenda Bailey has transformed the magazine.  She made several bold moves by putting celebrities on the cover of Harper's Bazaar instead of the new "it" model of the moment.   Diane Clehane interviewed Glenda for an article on  Media Bistro in 2007.  The article is a few years old, but you still get a real sense of Glenda and her love for the world of fashion.  Please click on the link below to read the entire article.
